My Attendance Is Bad But My Intentions Are Good
A great deal has finished in the last few weeks. NTU won NUS in the IVP, something that was a bugging pain in the ass has finally been dealt with.
(Bronze in 2009, Silver in 2010, Gold in 2010)
After losing to them in 3 finals, and after not winning anything in 7 years, NTU rugby has finally broken our trophy drought. Our forwards matched up to theirs and gave a great platform for our backs to attack. One of the most nail biting matches I have watched, with NUS throwing everything at us when they knew something was different about our team that day and it wasn't going to be a walk in the park for them. It was the best swan song for the graduating students, with most of them breaking down and going nuts after the ref blew the final whistle. Thanks Sid, Nicky, Kay, Albert and Dave. We have finally caught up with what eluded us the most, and you gave us something to defend next year.
SIM lost to SMU, a waste really. SIM have easily the strongest forward pack this Quad-Unis and if they kept it with their forwards or have a decent backline, it would be so much different. I personally felt that subbing Sugi out in the final 10 minutes was the single most stupidest decision ever made. Credits to SMU, who lives up to their schoolboy legends backs flair style of rugby.
Hall 11 got 3rd in the overall standings,
which is how sick. I remember coming in as a freshie with Sid and Nick wanting to pull me into hall 2 which is a sports hall but there was a cock up so I ended up in 11 and I was like this isn't so bad althought we were like 10th position or something. Now, we're 5th in IHG and 5th in IHRG. How sick. No thanks to the titans though, we screwed up and lost to a team we shouldn't have lost in the quarters, but whats done is done and we learn from our mistakes and we will get the gold next year.
Sadly in this sem, I've realised that many of the feelings I once had towards hall, and the people in hall, have faded. People graduate, move on, and new freshmen come in. I guess i've moved on too, and now instead of spamming hall activities, I've been spending time with family, house hunting, school work and skype. Truth be told, I do feel a tinge of sadness. I feel sad remembering that it was such a good time, and that it's something that I'll never be able to experience again. I feel sad missing the company that with all the (fail) birthday surprises, mahjong/poker sessions, committee meetings that I try mt best to pon, going for IVP/IHG trainings and having Kay as my roomie to irritate the shit outta each other (ok not so much HAHA). I feel sad, that I don't attend events that I used to think was so much fun like night cycling, dragonboating, MAF, annual camp, DND, supporting IHG players anymore because I feel, there are just better things to do.
Well, my hall life is now basically me and my single room, my awesome fridge, going back to pack stuff on weekends, school work, skype, the ocassional poker session and counting down the days till I take over your hand from Rocky's flipper.
